Lucas Betschart, Co-Founder of blockchain consulting firm Blockchain Sourceand president of the Bitcoin Association Switzerland, joins the VETRI Advisory Board to support the team on technical matters and provide guidance on the latest developments in the blockchain ecosystem.
Lucas is a blockchain and Bitcoin enthusiast since the early days. As a software engineer, he started his career at Crypto AG in Zug, where he was involved in building software that featured military-grade cryptography. But the use of cryptography in Bitcoin is what fascinated him most, which is why he started local events on the topic to provide the emerging community with a forum and connect blockchain enthusiasts around the globe. Emerging as a key figure of the Swiss blockchain community, he’s been elected president of the Bitcoin Association Switzerland for two consecutive terms. In this role, Lucas’s mission is to educate people about Bitcoin and blockchain technology, for example as a guest lecturer at universities of applied sciences HWZ and HSLU. He is frequently quoted in leading Swiss media as a subject matter expert to provide commentary on the latest blockchain developments.
Lucas said: “I see it as my duty to get involved in the current token sale mania, and hopefully be able to provide guidance amid the current uncertainty and often challenging circumstances. You can either choose to blame people for using a promising tool the wrong way, or you can try to help them use it in a better way. I decided to join the VETRI team for the simple reason that it has an exceptional value proposition in a not-for profit context. It’s a team I can trust, lead by Danny, with whom I successfully implemented projects at Nexussquared and Patrick, who used to be my work colleague at Blockchain Source.”
Daniel Gasteiger, initiator of VETRI said: “We are very happy to have Lucas on the team. His invaluable support will help us in our ambition to set a precedent for best practice token sales.”
